I was commissioned to photograph the Wellington Town Hall set up with the AXA Gala Dinner on Wednesday 25 January 2012. The Theme was Paris Cabaret with a variety show. The hall was decorated with a red carpet and large screens at the end with the pipe organ. The colours of the theme were red [...]

Here is the first installment of my behind the scenes coverage of the Winter Games in Queenstown and Wanaka: Episode 1, getting ready to leave Wellington for the South Island and the Winter Games on Tuesday August 23, 2011.

60 year storm surf

Parting shot- a fun wipe out image with some back lit spray. Surfing is pretty simple just a board and a wave, and of yeah, a surfer!

The stormĀ heraldedĀ as being one of the worst in 60 years just cleared today- there are still snow covered hills framing the south coast of Wellington and yet some hardy souls braved the frigid waters to get amongst the action. The sun is out and light offshore winds are starting to feather the enormous swell. Here [...]

Xterra Rotorua Festival 2011

The leader of the Xterra Richard Ussher coming through the trail running section

This year I was lucky enough to get picked to be on the Marathon Photos team to travel to the Xterra Festival in Rotorua. It is the largest offroad multi-sport event in New Zealand, and the largest Xterra event in the world. My challenge was to get shots in the forest of runners. I brought [...]

New artworks are up at Porirua Train Station

A general shot showing the murals in place. This wide angle shot shows off the way the work wraps around the stairs much better than a standard lens. Nikon D3, 14-24mm lens at 14mm. Natural lighting.

I was commissioned to photograph the new artwork and photography displays that are up in the underpass at Porirua Train Station. They are part of a multi-million dollar upgrade to the station involving retrofitting and repairs to the existing structures. Things like the underpass lighting with custom stainless steel lighting fixtures look like they involved [...]

I have posted this You Tube video which explains my portable studio set up along with a slideshow showcasing my photos from the 40th birthday event, which took place upstairs at Macs Brewery Shed 22, Wellington waterfront, New Zealand. Enjoy!

Is it a building or a graphic?

View of a new building being completed on Wellington's waterfront D4 on the Wharf

As part of an architectural assignment for a client, I shot a building called D4 which is on Wellington’s Waterfront Wharf area. Access is somewhat limited, the back of the building has parking lots and closed of security areas for immigration, which leaves only the front of the building as the most interesting and accessible [...]

Wellington Cityscape

View of Wellington City and harbour with my nephew in the foreground. I promised to bring him back when the winds are completely still and the harbour becomes like a mirror

The weather was just awesome today- one of those rare Wellington days where the winds are slight and the sun shone all day. In the morning I met with another photographer and possible assistant, then had brunch with friends at the newly refurbished and opened Maranui Cafe in Lyall Bay. I drove with my sister [...]
