Lifestyle photographer Mark Tantrum specializes in candid and natural wedding, environmental portraiture, news and editorial image making. Based in San Jose, California. He works to seek out the moments of expression and genuine emotion in the people he photographs. His approach is to create a calm, natural and fun environment for his clients that they will remember fondly when viewing their photographs.
Mark works as a freelance photographer with the Silicon Valley Community Newspaper group with 12 local papers throughout the San Jose area. The events covered are “fiercely local” news, feature stories about people, events, schools, businesses, sports and government. Mark’s photographs are a regular feature in the society pages, on the cover with feature stories and in the sports section. He has grown a wide range of skills in covering these diverse subjects and styles and brings them to his client-based work.
Mark also works as a staff photographer at the Harker School in San Jose, a K-12 non-sectarian private school in the heart of Silicon Valley. His role includes coverage of 3 campuses and the daily life, achievements and successes of over 1,700 students. Photographs taken for the school have appeared in the annual report, various advertisements including spots in Time, Newsweek, Gentry Magazine, San Jose Magazine, San Jose Business Journal, The Mercury News, San Francisco Chronicle, and Bay Area Parent. He has also received 7 Marcom Awards from 2006-07 for photography related publicity and corporate communications.
