I recently planned an environmental portrait session for Real People with artist Erica Van Zon. We set up a time at her studio. I arrived fully equipped with lighting and an assistant but when we got in the space, the natural lighting was great as it was. I did use a bounce from a shoot through white umbrella but that was it. I used a 35mm and 50mm prime as the main lenses. It was great to shoot in such a paired back way and instead of worrying about the technical – instead focus on the work and the conversation. Erica is prepping for an upcoming exhibition in Auckland at the Melanie Roger Gallery which some of work seen here will be included in the show.
