On Sunday 19 April 2015, I shot the opening of the new Hutt City Council ANZAC lawn and Cenotaph blessing. The Cenotaph has been moved from its previous location in front of the War Memorial Library to it’s new one looking directly out over the ANZAC lawn. There have also been new pavers added in front which means large groups can assemble – great for the multiple ANZAC ceremonies scheduled for the next 4 years. Another aspect I really liked was the dark grey granite that’s been built around the Cenotaph. It frames it nicely and is in keeping with the library building but as its darker is not obtrusive.
The ceremony was really well attended. I think the estimate was around 400 people including the cadets and VIPs. The weather help up beautifully with full sun and light winds – very lucky for this time of year! Here are some of the photos I really liked from the event. To see all the photos click here.
