As a small business owner I was keenly interested in a Small Business Election Debate for MYOB and the Wellington Employers Chamber of Commerce. I covered the event as an editorial video assignment – recording the whole hour long debate and editing a 3 minute video for online sharing. Taking part in the debate were National’s Steven Joyce, Labour’s Trevor Mallard, James Shaw of the Green Party, Laila Harre of Internet Mana, Colin Craig of the Conservatives and Robin Grieve from the ACT Party. Colin Craig and Trevor Mallard added some spice toward the end of the event with a little friendly battle for the microphone. MYOB also conducted a survey of over 1000 SME’s and have published the findings in a PDF: MYOB Special Report on SME Policies and Economic Performance. Simplifying provisional tax rules and reduced prices for unlimited broadband data were high on the list. I can totally relate to both!
