iWantMyName Headquarters in Wellington, New Zealand

I spent a wonderful morning with writer Miriam Richdale photographing the team at iWantMyName. They are rethinking what web domain name registration can be for the user by offering what people need and none of the usual up-sells and clutter that you would normally expect. They also have a space that reflects that attitude. Clean, simple workspaces that focus into a central point, including standing desks as well as ones that allow workers to sit for a time. The other aspect I loved was the relaxed vibe, there is a need for a lot of concentrated effort and focus. This is offset by a relaxed warm atmosphere – calm voices, with positive conversations. I guess that is what companies talk about when they want to foster ‘culture.’ The difference here is that the founders are the employees – everyone working on a flat hierarchy. It was actually hard to leave, I wanted to stay and work there myself!
