KO Cupertino Courier and Sunnyvale Sun Cover stories – Propo Mini-Z Grand Prix, held March 7 at the Cupertino Square Mall

I have always been interested in racing cars- but not always a fan of radio controlled cars. I had one when I was growing up. Working with my Dad during a trade show, he bought be a hugely expensive offroad RC car which I had for years. I never took it further, until today. In covering the story, I met Joel Johnson who got me to try my hand at it again on a Kyosho Dnano track. This is a new smaller type of car that is linked to an online social networking.

It was a blast exploring the scene and getting to know all the enthusiasts that participate in the racing. It is amazing to see how much preparation that goes into getting the cars ready for the track. Batteries have to be charged, appropriate tyres fitted and then all the steering and suspension settings adjusted. It was also good to see how many families that participated together.
